“If we are in rhythm with nature, we are in rhythm with ourselves” (Micah Hobbes Frazier)
When you really pay attention to nature with kids, so many ordinary things become magical.
In a time when kids spend more time indoors and in front of a screen and less time outside than ever before, going outdoors into nature has never been more important. The practice of shinrin-yoku or forest bathing helps kids to slow down, relax and reduce stress levels whilst awakening their body senses.
Shinrin-yoku connects kids back to their natural state, which lives in harmony with nature. It teaches them to tune into nature, away from the stress-inducing overstimulation of modern life, which is crucial to their connection to the natural world, themselves and each other. It is scientifically proven to boost memory, focus and creativity, improve attention, energy level and sleeping patterns, reduce ADHD symptoms, promote empathy and an overall feeling of wellbeing.
Wanna bring more nature, beauty, wonder and fun into your child’s life? Then join us on a guided shinrin-yoku walk!
Stillness in Nature offers in-company shinrin-yoku sessions at kindergartens and schools on request.
We also organize shinrin-yoku walks for kids with their families.
Read more about what happens on a shinrin-yoku walk and why use a certified guide.
After the guided shinrin-yoku walk, kids can bring home the practice of tuning into their senses when in nature. They can share it with their families and peers, and continue to benefit from its calming and relaxing effects.
Meaningful connections with the natural world don’t begin in the rainforest or arctic, but in our own city-parks, backyard/balcony and communities.
Please send us an email via stillness.nature@gmail.com to discuss the various options.
“If a child is to keep alive his inborn sense of wonder… he needs the companionship of at least one adult who can share it, rediscovering with him the joy, excitement and mystery of the world we live in.” Rachel Carson
